Directions To Wakefield Sports and Social Club

We play at the West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club on Sandal Hall Close in Wakefield. The club has ample parking, a fully licensed bar and stair lift allowing access for the less mobile.

By Car (from the South)

Travel north on the M1 to junction 39, and take the A636 towards Wakefield. After 1Km, turn right at roundabout onto Asdale Road(signed Sandal, Crofton).

Go straight on past 2 mini-roundabouts and the ASDA Superstore to your left-hand-side. Go straight on at traffic light junction with A61 (Wakefield/Barnsley) then straight on at the next traffic lights (with the Three Houses PH on right.) Over crest of the hill, passing Sandal Endowed school, get into right-hand lane and take next right at traffic lights down Walton Lane. After approx. 400m, take the second left into Sandal Hall Close. WYSSC is at the bottom of the road and to the left.

By Car (from the North)

Travel into Wakefield and leave southwards on the A61 towards Barnsley. After crossing the River Calder, keep on the A61 to the right. Over canal (slight hump-back bridge) and past the Bus Garage on the right-hand side, and along the dual carriageway, pass under the railway bridge, passing Harratts Volvo garage and Sandal Cricket Club on the left. Pass by Landrover garage and Sandal Church on left.

At the next traffic lights, approx. 50m, turn left down Walton Lane. After approx. 400m, take the second turn left into Sandal Hall Close. WYSSC is at the bottom of the road and to the left.

By Train

Sandal and Agbrigg station is within 10 minutes walking distance. Turn left out of the station along Agbrigg Road. At Barnsley Road, turn left, pass by Landrover garage and Sandal Church on left.

At the next traffic lights, approx. 50m, turn left down Walton Lane. After approx. 400m, take the second turn left into Sandal Hall Close. WYSSC is at the bottom of the road and to the left.

By Bus

The 110 bus passes along Barnsley Road. Alight at Castle Road/Walton Lane/The Castle PH, and walk down Walton Lane. After approx. 400m, take the second turn left into Sandal Hall Close. WYSSC is at the bottom of the road and to the left.

The 193/194 bus passes down Walton Lane. Alight at Sandal Tennis Club/ Mountbatten Avenue, and retrace your steps up Walton Lane for approx. 50m to Sandal Hall Close. WYSSC is at the bottom of the road and to the left.
